How it Started
Rebel Kitchen wasn’t born in a boardroom—it was born at a dinner table. One that didn’t exist yet. In a small jungle town with no sushi, no dumplings, and very little food that felt intentional, one young chef got tired of waiting for someone else to make it happen.
So she did it herself.
What began with experimenting in a home kitchen—rolling gyoza, testing broths, chasing the perfect bite—quickly grew into something bigger. People started to ask for more. A dinner here, a special night there. Soon, word spread: there was real food happening in Puerto Viejo. Food with care. Food with soul. Food that felt like someone actually gave a damn.
Rebel Kitchen grew not from a business plan, but from a passion to cook boldly and serve differently—to give people meals they remember and moments they didn’t expect to find here. And that’s exactly what we still do.
What We Do (and Why It’s Different)
Rebel Kitchen offers private chef services, small event catering, immersive food experiences, and retreat meal planning—but we don’t like to be put in a box. We’re the ones you call when you want something better than the typical, but not so fancy it feels stiff. We live in that sweet spot between laid-back and elevated. Casual, but intentional. Creative, but grounded.
Our roots are in Asian flavors—dumplings, sushi, ramen, rich broths, fresh herbs—but we draw from everywhere. Some days it’s a citrus-brined roast chicken. Other days, it’s a premium 5-course Caribbean inspired dinner with homemade mangosteen cocktails. We love mixing it up. We love surprise.
More importantly, we build every menu around the people we’re serving. Because for us, it’s never just about the food. It’s about what happens around it. The laughter over second helpings. The quiet moments between bites. The feeling of being taken care of.
We’re not trying to be the most exclusive. We’re trying to be the most right—for you, for the moment, for the vibe. And we do that with a lot of heart and a little bit of edge.
